I am from Lincolnshire in the UK and went to the University of Lincoln to study a BA(hons) Contemporary Decorative Crafts degree which I completed this year. Prior to that I studied for a Foundation Degree in Art and Design at the East Coast School of Art and Design; while there I took evening classes in jewellery making, this is where I realised my passion for designing and making my own jewellery.
I have alway had an interest in jewellery but I didn't know how it felt to combine that with my enjoyment of making and crafts. I had intended to go to University and work with glass but I was smitten with metals and also making paper. So I experimented with handmade paper while developing my skills as a goldsmith and now I often combine the two. I also have an interest in traditional homecrafts and contemporary textiles alike.
I am rarely happier than when immersed in making something, especially jewellery as it's so personal. The idea of making something that another person will interact with is an important part of making jewellery to me.
